Niagara Falls casino staff raise $123K for United Way
The staff at Casino Niagara and Fallsview Casino are being commended for their part in raising over $123,000 toward this year's United Way of Niagara Falls and Greater Fort Erie fundraising efforts. The funds for this year's campaigns were raised through a number of creative and community-oriented initiatives including silent auctions, road hockey and volleyball tournaments, and individual donations.
"Niagara Casino's contribution to the United Way continues to be the single largest to our campaign," said United Way Executive Director Carol Stewart-Kirky to the Niagara Falls Review.
Carol also noted the casinos' contributions have traditionally accounted for up to 25% of the United Way's annual goal, which this year was $1 million for Niagara Falls and $200,000 for Fort Erie.
Reflecting on the success of Casino Niagara and Fallsview Casino's staff, casino associate Shawn Sixsmith said, "We have a lot of people that give and they do it without even thinking about it because they enjoy helping other people out in the community. This year, the associates raised more than $123,000 and another $100,000 was put in by the casino. We held a lot of events and everybody really pulled together."
Niagara Falls Casinos president Art Frank added, "Year after year, I am amazed by their generosity with time and money."
