Moncton just keeps getting better. If great shopping, restaurants and natural beauty aren’t enough to persuade residents and visitors to enjoy the area, then perhaps the new Casino New Brunswick will do the trick.

As the province’s first and premiere gaming facility, guests can explore 24,000 square feet of action that includes 500 slot machines, 30 table games (including 8 poker tables), and a myriad of unique restaurant and lounges. Add in a luxurious 126 suite hotel and spa and a multi-purpose entertainment and convention centre with an 1800-seat concert venue and CNB will be the entertainment destination for many.

With over 15 years of gaming experience, General Manager Steve Hancock, notes, “We are excited to welcome our first guests and we are committed to providing them a world-class entertainment experience.” He states that he has “built a team of diverse and experienced people who also share my passion for superior customer service. CNB will help bolster tourism and visitation to the province and the city of Moncton, and we will continuously try to raise the bar and challenge ourselves to provide the best environment and products possible.”

On May 8, 2008, Halifax-based Sonco Gaming New Brunswick Limited Partnership was selected as the successful proponent for the New Brunswick Destination Casino Project. Sonco and its principal have over 14 years of experience in the Canadian gaming industry and over 40 years of real estate development, management and investment expertise in North America. Sonco is also the operating company of Great Blue Heron Charity Casino in Ontario and Grey Eagle Casino and Bingo in Alberta. The agreement with the New Brunswick Lotteries and Gaming Corporation (NBLGC) was signed on July 15, 2008.

Hancock says CNB is unique with its blend of sophisticated gaming, set in a comfortable and vibrant environment. The staff is welcoming, friendly and fun – a true reflection of Maritime hospitality.  He states “we offer top-of-the-line gaming equipment, automated shuffling on many tables, electronic signage on every table, state-of-the-art poker management system, the newest slot machines available in the market, bilingual signage and services, and down-home customer service offered in a total entertainment environment.” Partnering with local icon Moosehead Breweries, Moose’s Wild Pub also offers free live entertainment on the weekends.  The entire casino features a superior lighting and sound system, fantastic food and beverage outlets, ATMs, tasteful décor, 60 high-definition plasmas and big screen, a rewards club program, and a gift shop featuring local artisan products and various souvenirs.

Diners can experience two restaurants—from up-scale pub dining to buffet style and a number of fantastic bars and lounges.  Located in the heart of the casino floor, is the elevated Center Bar. Guests can order from an appetizer menu and extensive drink selection or watch live entertainment.  The Ultra Lounge is set on the second level of the iconic lighthouse that functions as an exterior landmark for the casino. The Ultra Lounge offers a modern setting with food and drink options or the lounge can also be used for private functions.

Wonderful food, entertainment and fun aside, CNB takes it stance on responsible gaming very seriously.  There will be a Responsible Gaming Information Centre available on site that will offer dedicated resources for players to make informed choices.  Casino New Brunswick is committed to playing their role in providing a gaming experience that encourages responsible gaming amongst their patrons.

Employing over 400 people from the region and supporting trades, CNB has made a concerted effort to secure and source as many products and services locally. Together with community groups and organizations brought on board to help deliver training and staff development, CNB expects to welcome upwards of one million visitors each year.
