Scientific Games Corporation’s Flair™ Terminal was recently named the Public Gaming Research Institute (PGRI) Lottery Product of the Year at the SMART-Tech 2011 Conference held in New York, where it was presented to an audience of lottery and gaming professionals from around the globe.

Representing the latest addition to the Company’s family of online lottery gaming terminals, Scientific Games designed the Flair to be the smallest all-in-one lottery terminal in its class after identifying the retail community’s need for a compact yet full-function gaming terminal. It is the smallest full-function all-in-one lottery terminal in its class, and is fully integrated with a full-size high-speed printer, high-speed document scanner, 2D barcode reader and high-resolution touch screen display all incorporated into a compact unit. Due to its reduced size, the Flair also provides a unique option for mobile lottery sales at fairs, concerts, festivals and sporting events.

“Providing multiple terminal configurations to meet retailer needs is another tool to help lotteries expand their retailer networks into new trade styles and channels,” said Janine Whiteman, Scientific Games’ Senior Director of Retail Solutions Marketing, who was involved in the Flair design process from concept to product release, adding, “It was imperative that the Flair provide the speed of service, ease of use and flexibility for connecting additional technologies to the terminal that our retailers and players have enjoyed so much with our flagship WAVE™ terminal.”

The Flair terminal uses the same design DNA as the WAVE terminal and shares common hardware and software components, thereby leveraging proven performance, ease of use and reliability. Flair supports a wide array of peripherals such as player marketing/advertising displays, jackpot signage, customer transaction displays, wired or wireless ticket checkers, cash drawers, magnetic stripe, smart card and other readers, as well multiple open ports to accommodate future lottery requirements.

The Lottery Product of the Year Award was conceived by PGRI as a way to recognize the most innovative products and concepts impacting lottery performance and results. “Creating a compact lottery terminal with a reduced footprint for retailers was our primary goal; however, we refused to sacrifice performance in the process,” said Steve Beason, Chief Enterprise Technology Officer at Scientific Games.

This latest award follows Scientific Game's 2009 PGRI Lottery Product of the Year Award for Lottery InPlay®, a technical solution enabling lotteries and their retailers to sell online quick-pick tickets in a multi-lane cash register environment.
